Mia Suarez, named SOAR 2026 TCAT Student of the Year
Mia Suarez of TCAT Athens has been named the SOAR 2026 TCAT Student of the Year, an honor that recognizes her dedication, ambition, and commitment to excellence. The SOAR Awards—short for Statewide Outstanding Achievement Recognition—are presented by the Tennessee Board of Regents to celebrate the top students, faculty, and staff across Tennessee’s community colleges and Colleges of Applied Technology. Established to highlight achievement and impact, the awards recognize individuals who excel academically, contribute to their communities, and demonstrate leadership within the state’s higher education system.
Mia is currently pursuing a diploma in Automotive Technology with the goal of becoming a Master Technician. She is already applying her skills through a co-op program with Chevrolet, where she is gaining valuable, hands-on experience in a real-world setting.
Looking ahead, Mia has a clear vision for her future. She plans to open her own automotive shop—one that not only provides high-quality service but also serves as a place where others can learn about vehicles, develop skills, and build meaningful careers.
With her determination, forward-thinking mindset, and the strong foundation she is building at TCAT Athens, Mia Suarez embodies the spirit of the SOAR Awards and is well on her way to turning her dream into reality.
